The DXC256 cross-connect, equipped with SDH and PDH capability, is meant to be used in the construction of medium and large capacity access backbone networks. The unit optimizes the use of transmission resources through the switching of 64kbit/s, n x 64kbit/s channels and E1 streams. Its maximum capacity is 256 streams of 2.048 Mbit/s.

The DXC256 allows for:

• Switching of channels n x 64kbit/s (n=1,...32)
• Switching of CAS abcd bits (Channel Associated Signaling) for any user data slot to/from any E1 line
• Transparent signaling data transfer of CCS (Common Channel Signaling)
• Add/drop multiplexing of 64 kbit/s slots
• Information distribution connection on a broadcast basis
